New Books & Novel Discoveries (November 2023)

I ended up getting more books than last month, despite my vague attempts to buy less things for myself as Christmas approaches. In fairness, a number of them were orders that arrived later than expected, so perhaps things evened out. Once again, I am struggling with the idea that there is a book or two I’ve forgotten, but I can’t determine what they might be. There was a flurry of trips to the thrift store this past month, which I’ve decided is to blame for this.

Anyway, enough rambling, on to the books!Read More »

Reading Goals I Still Want to Accomplish Before the End of the Year

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme run by That Artsy Reader Girl. Since my decision to be less rigid with my reading goals this year led me to not posting updates whatsoever, I figured it would be a good idea to contribute to this week’s topic. Hopefully, this will produce a clearer picture of my goals and maybe even conjure up a few I’d otherwise be noncommittal about.Read More »

New Books & Novel Discoveries (September 2023)

It was with uncanny speed that September seemed to pass us by, though I’m not really complaining since it means that October and the Halloween season are now in full swing (today’s unseasonable warmth here notwithstanding). I allowed myself to indulge a little last month, in large part because I decided to browse some stores I hadn’t been to in a long while. I’m actually feeling especially good about all the books I picked up this month, such that I feel they’re all books I’ll read pretty soon.

Enough delay, on to the books!Read More »

New Books & Novel Discoveries (July 2023)

Although I am, as usual, paranoid that there is something I’m forgetting, I believe that July has been an especially laid back month as far as book buying is concerned. By next week, I’ll be away on a trip, so I suppose the expenses related to that have helped rein me in from spending too freely on things like books. Still, I did manage to pick up a couple of things.

New Books & Novel Discoveries (June 2023)

As you can see, I’m getting this post for June up a little late. I had the opportunity to go home and visit my family for a few days for Canada Day weekend, so I haven’t really had the opportunity to get it done until now. As usual, I’m somewhat wracking my brain wondering if I’ve forgotten something, but I’m fairly certain I only picked up a couple of books this month. (Upon finishing this sentence, I remembered a third book, so sometimes you should trust those feelings.)

It’s late as is, so let’s move on to the books!Read More »

New Books & Novel Discoveries (May 2023)

I feel like I actually managed to show some restraint this past month, as I only indulged myself once with buying a bunch of books at once. I’ve continued the trend of picking up books at thrift stores as well, so I’m not spending nearly as much money. I really need to be keeping that in line as much as I can. In any case, let’s just get it out of the way now that all of these books were bought second hand.

Enough waffling, on to the books!Read More »

New Books & Novel Discoveries (April 2023)

Well, it’s finally happened. Though I actually wound up buying a fair number of books this month, what I’m stuck on is the fact that I actually forgot to include a few new books last month, one of which having been a rather big deal for me. Goodness knows how I forgot about it. I almost forgot another book today too; I think I really ought to cool down on the book purchases next month. We’ll see if I actually do that.

New Books & Novel Discoveries (March 2023)

I don’t know what happened this month, but I went absolutely nuts with buying books. At least, that’s how it feels; maybe it’s not all that much compared to some other months, but it’s certainly a lot more than normal. For the most part, these were thrift store purchases, so at least I didn’t go over the top with buying books at full price. I just happened to find myself at thrift stores with my friends a lot this month, and for some reason each time there was one or several books worth picking up. It was a little uncanny.
