Now March was truly surprising in how low-key of a month it was. No preorders, no big impulse purchases, and no substantial trips to any thrift stores. As usual, I wonder if I’ve forgotten something, but I’m fairly confident the thing I did get is all I have to show for the past month. It’s probably for the best; some personal expenses have come up, so I should be a little less spend-happy anyway.
Let’s check out what I did pick up.
New Books

Mutts: Hot Dogs, Hot Cats by Patrick McDonnell is a book I came across at a local dollar store; I often check out the books at these places because it’s not uncommon for something interesting to make its way there for a much cheaper price than normal. I have no intention of collecting these books, and this is far from the first volume, but I felt such a wave of nostalgia looking at it that I couldn’t help but pick it up. I enjoyed these strips as a kid, most especially because my childhood best friend really liked them and he was the one that got me into them. So now, I associate Mutts with him and good childhood memories.
Novel Discoveries

I didn’t realize until putting this together, but this section was rather scant this past month too. I’m not sure what’s happened, but I suppose it’s not entirely out of order to just have a really light month every once in a while.
At any rate, Bloodborne: The Lady of the Lanterns by Cullen Bunn and Piotr Kowalski was something I was very excited to learn exists. I had assumed that he last of the Bloodborne graphic novels had come out already; I had no idea any more were in the works, let alone available. I really enjoyed those and thought they were surprisingly well put together for a video game tie-in, so I’m really looking forward to picking this up and checking it out. The only misgiving I have is that Cullen Bunn is a new writer on this; all the others were written by Aleš Kot. I’m willing to give Bunn a chance, but I suspect Kot was the reason I liked the previous four volumes so much.
Until next time, thank you for reading!
